AAFREEN PRÊT AUTUMN WINTER 2018

Poetry, craftsmanship and love. Persia, the land of the Sufi poet Rumi, is the inspiration behind Sue Mue’s Autumn-Winter 2018 pret collection, Aafreen. The geometry and meaningful motifs of Persian rugs find their way into this season’s fusion looks, from jumpsuits to waistcoats to long-slit kurtas and cropped pants.

Aafreen, which means beautiful or pure soul, echoes the Sufi’s love for the mystic and the divine. In keeping with the elaborate designs and variety of Persian textiles, this collection features Afghani silhouettes such as flowy kalidar, loose-fit kurta, bell sleeves, harem pants, embroidered Pasha salwars and palazzos in materials such as tussar georgette, raw silk, sheer organza, slub cotton and mulmul.

Colours such as pearl, clay white, sage green, ash grey, rosewood and cosmic black endow a deep, poetic touch to the garments, and the emphasis on patchwork reminds you of the intricate craftsmanship of medieval Persia.

Hand embroideries using resham threadwork with floral and geometric patterns uplift the garments, adding elegance and flair. These garments are for modern, aware women who are keenly appreciative of the heritage of the past, while also in tune with the trends of the present.

Rich with lyricism, these garments call out, as Rumi once did, “You are the master alchemist. You light the fire of love, in earth and sky, in heart and soul of every being.”

Rejoice in your own magic.
